Everyone should make a wiki, it slaps

I was hinting on my previous post how I was making an oc info section using this 11ty template, and I had ~10 years of oc info to centralise into my site.

oh boy

I had No Idea I'd end with 50+ pages of it. By some standards this feels like baby numbers, but I had to do this while integrating all the other information that spans out of a character (lore, places, relationships, etc) with the rest of my worldbuilding, and lol no wonder I was confusing myself. some pages are link spaghetti

You can now view (nearly all) of my ocs here, including backstories, headcanons and connections!!! I've mainly made it as a reference for myself, but honestly it's a treasure trove of info for anyone interested in Blorbo From My Head

I was hit by some serious hyperfocus with this project. Once more, I am losing sleep over fictional squid lives. (iykyk)

This is where I thank past me for picking Obsidian as my writing management app. With a little bit of 11ty wrangling, I made the links work seamlessly whether I was on the site or in Obsidan. I can create link placeholders as I'm writing descriptions. When I encounter something that needs/has more info, I can come up with a permalink, and when I first click on it a page gets created with a template already in, so I don't have to immediately fill the pages up with all the info ever and get bogged down by detail. Also, I don't even have to compile my site to see it work!!! a godsent when you go ham on a set of interconnected pages, pepe silva style. speaking of, the graph view ended up clustering all the related plotlines together, which was very cool to see

Anyway, this is fun! If you're also worldbuilding or have a bunch of info that's connected and you don't know how, build a wiki/second brain/digital garden/whatever else they call it now. I've been wanting to do this for ages. now, let's hope I actually write some more chapters and not edit this thing to death!
