The Great Flood
A historical event hinted in the series. Humanity was nearly wiped out by a planet-wide flood, reducing the size of the Earth's landmasses.
This brought great changes on Earth's climate, ecology and geography, which have shaped the Mollusc Era.
- Major continent have been reduced in size
- Majority of islands have sunk, and the ones appearing post-flood have been populated by evolved marine life
- All mammals have gone extinct, together with many species of plants. The few surviving species have evolved together with the inkfish, creating Mollusc Era lineages
