Kaloecium shelendorfii
Kaloecium shelendorfii is a Mollusc Era perennial herbaceous plant that belongs to the Lamiaceae family.
- Lanceolate leaves
- Tubular flowers, with bright red bases fading into white at the tips. Two stamens hang over the three large bottom petals
- Woody stems, with slight fuzz
The species and its genus are poorly documented, with a few collections, including the type collection, being archived in Shellendorf Institute's herbarium.
It used to be classified as a Salvia, until advancements in DNA sequencing and the M.E. group's work on Inkadian flora has revealed it branched off the pre-M.E. genus.
